Do College Admissions Officers View Applicant’s Social Media ?

Does it matter much what you post on my social media accounts?  Do admissions officers look at applicant’s social media?  In a word, yes, almost 30% of college admissions officers may check out your social media account, especially if they are public!  So students should look at their social media as they apply to college and delete any posts that may not be that flattering for a college admissions officer to see.  A general rule of thumb with social media is:  Don’t post anything you that would be embarrassing for your parents to read.

“According to last year’s Kaplan survey of more than 200 college admissions officers, 27% of respondents visit applicants’ social media profiles to learn more about them….Our survey found that 66% of college admissions officers feel that online profiles, social media, Facebook, etc., is fair game.”
