The Right Guidance for College and Career Success: Maximizing Your Educational Investment

October is FAFSA Time in 4 Easy Steps!

We recommend that all families fill out the FAFSA for students who will be attending a 4-year college or university. Beginning in 2016, the FAFSA window opened in October. The sooner you fill out the FAFSA, the better! Here is a FAFSA Worksheet in pdf to guide the process.

Here are the 4 Easy Steps to completing the FAFSA:

  1. FAFSA ID: Get a FAFSA ID (both student and parents need one – takes 5 minutes)
  2. Gather the information you will need to complete the FAFSA (Social Security Numbers, Driver’s License Number, Income statement, last year’s tax info, bank account balances, investment balances, price of house if you own, dependent status).
  3. College Choices: Determine colleges where to send FAFSA Info (can add more in later)
  4. Fill Out FAFSA: Student and parent complete FAFSA together (about an hour of time if you have all the above information)
